Understand the mechanics of backbends by looking at the anatomy of the spine and how to develop your own backbend. Starting with specific warm ups to open the back and shoulders, as well as strength building exercises, the workshop will incorporate the use of props to help you safely practice backbends.

This workshop will also give you a solid foundation to build and deepen your backbends in an open class, increasing strength and flexibility and gaining a better understanding of your own body.
Lower back pain is a symptom of modern life and can affect so many of us. Backbends can be invigorating and can help to increase mobility while strengthening and supporting muscles around the back, arms and legs. They stretch the hip flexors and help to open the shoulders and chest, areas where we all hold a lot of tension. Through awareness and deepened flexibility of the spine, backbends may help improve posture and sometimes alleviate certain back and neck pains. All levels welcome!
